We Require a Senior Engineer, Electrical.

Purpose of the Role

The purpose of the senior Engineer, Electrical is to be a key part of the engineering team, located at our site in Fareham, Hampshire, and working on project delivery, service provision and product development. The job encompasses bidding for, designing, implementing, testing, acceptance and after-sales support of technical solutions for the international Defence & Training & Simulation market sectors. This job is focused on the electrical aspects of the projects, but will work within the context of a multi-disciplinary and multi-site engineering team delivering complete solutions to the customer. Key Responsibilities of the Senior Engineer, Electrical

Including but not limited to:

• Pre-Sales – Assist the Business Development team to evaluate opportunities for product and project sales including:
o Meeting with existing and prospective customers and clients to elicit their requirements and understand their needs.
o Proposing technical solutions and identifying the risks and opportunities for each proposed solution.

• Tendering – Assist in the preparation of tenders for new product and project sales including;
o The quality of the proposed technical solution
o Identifying the associated risks and opportunities
o Deriving the work breakdown structure, and estimating the effort required for individual tasks in that structure
o Assessing the compliance of the proposed technical solution to the customer’s requirements.

• Project Technical Leadership – Support the Project Managers to deliver projects to contracted cost, delivery schedule and quality requirements.

• Engineering – Lead Engineers to deliver projects, services and products to contracted cost, schedule and quality requirements.

• After-Sales – Support the Project Manager to provide an after-sales service to customers and clients.

• Demonstrations – Support the Business Development team to prepare and deliver demonstrations of our products and capabilities.

Candidate requirements

Competencies • A broad understanding of Engineering in general, and Electrical Engineering in detail. • Effective communication and inter-personal abilities. • Expertise in requirements capture, documentation and traceability to design and test documentation. • Expertise in design and implementation of low-voltage DC and single/three phase AC electrical systems. • Expertise in design and implementation of PLC systems and panels. • Expertise in design of safe and secure electrical and network systems Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications. • Use of electrical Computer Aided Design software, such as SolidWorks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical. • Use of Programmable Logic Controllers, such as Siemens S7 or Allen Bradley 5000. • Use of requirements management tools, such as Rational DOORS or Sparx Enterprise Architect. • CE marking legislation and requirements Specific Qualifications for the Job. • A first degree in Electrical Engineering or other equivalent degree or qualification. • City & Guilds Level 4 in electrical design, inspection and testing. • Membership of a Professional Body, such as the IET. • Engineering Council incorporated status, or equivalent Experience. • At least 10 years of experience delivering Engineering projects. • Experience of working in teams of between 1 and 10 engineers. • Experience of delivering projects to UK MoD, and/or other defence departments. • Experience of delivering projects worth in excess of £1m. • Experience of part task training and simulation product development General. • The job holder will have a current driving licence. • Ability to be flexible and work outside core hours on occasion. • Overseas travel may be required occasionally. • Ability to work in the UK with no restrictions. • Must meet security vetting criteria. • Participate in the performance review process, identifying development areas and strengths and undertaking continuous professional development. • Participate in continuous improvement activities within the company.
